Gastrological Department

Gastroenterology is a sub-division of internal medicine. A physician who specialises in this area of medicine is called a gastroenterologist. This is a highly complex discipline.

Gastroenterology embraces diagnostics, therapy, gastric surgery and prevention of disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and related organs (liver, gall bladder, pancreas). Sub-divisions of gastroenterology are endoscopy, hepatology and gastroenterological oncology. Peptic and duodenal ulcers, colonic carcinoma, liver disorders (cirrhosis/hepatitis), intestinal disorders (coeliac disease/inflammatory diseases (Morbus Crohn/Colitis ulcerosa) are significant disorders in the area of gastroenterology. Functional disorders such as dyspepsia and irritated bowel syndrome play a major role in gastroenterology.

In addition to these organs that form part of gastroenterology, various other organs, such as the liver, gall bladder and pancreas, also fall within the scope of gastroenterology.

Ihave a pain every night, especially at left-sided down of the colon for many years ago I can't sleep and this very serious big problem,I close my eyes but my brain can't sleep, still awake. This is destroying my body, and I have some problems with thyroid gland, and have some headache, so also I cannot sleep.. I did read a lot about this syndrome, but no body said he couldn't sleep. So I want to ask you professor if there's a solution for this pain so I can sleep well.

Majid Milani Sun, 24 Sep 17:31

Dear Professor Arnold,
I am a patient with Irritable bowel syndrome and subsequently gastroesophageal reflux.
My physician has told me that surgery should be done in the lower esophageal sphincter.
In fact, all my problems is derived from lower esophageal sphincter, that brings about leaking food back from stomach to esophagus.
I have a lot of problems after eating, I am intended to do surgery asap.
It would be greatly appreciated if you lead me.
Best regards,
